ABOUT ALISA Alisa Baranyi was born December 14, 1973 in Bangkok Thailand. She has spent most of her life travelling the world. A couple of highlights are hiking to the top of Mt. Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, backpacking through Europe (twice), and teaching scuba diving in Koh Samui, Thailand. Alisa finally buckled down, and is working full-time as a physical therapist at the UC Davis Medical Center in Sacramento, California. |

ABOUT DAVIS Davis Yates was born in Kansas City, Missouri on May 4, 1968. He grew up in Southern California, becoming a very skilled surfer. He's surfed in Hawaii, Costa Rica and extensively in Mexico. Davis is currently working in the underground business (Pipeline Rehabilitation), and is living in Sacramento, California. |

HOW WE MET Alisa and her friend, Linda, were getting ready to go to the beach and do some surfing. They were loading up the car with surfboards in the Crystal Cay parking lot in Laguna Niguel. Davis also had the same idea and was in the parking lot getting ready to leave and find some waves. He spotted Alisa putting the boards on her car and came over to chit-chat. It turns out that he and Linda were neighbors. So, she got to scope him out for Alisa. Their first date was surfing until the full moon came out, and a sushi dinner - the first of many that year. |

THE ENGAGEMENT On December 29, 2001, Alisa and Davis were in Pitsanulok, Thailand celebrating New Years with Alisa's parents and family. There was a big reunion with Alisa's grandmother, Khun Yai. As Alisa was waking up the next morning, Davis snuck up and proposed. |
